GMO vs Organic

Updated: Dec 30, 2017

What do we know about it and how can we better chose are the grocery store?

We are seeing the term GMO everywhere from the super market, to commercials to ads on facebook. GMO, NONGMO, GMO Verified,  Non GMO project, its a little overwhelming and can be a bit confusing.

So, what does G.M.O. mean? A GMO (genetically modified organism) is the result of a laboratory process where genes from the DNA of one species are extracted and artificially forced into the genes of an unrelated plant or animal. The foreign genes may come from bacteria, viruses, insects, animals or even humans.

ugh, no thank you? You can keep it.

The unfortunate part of GMO's and their odd, unnatural, science experiment on us, is that we as the public cannot easily determine which of our products contain  GMOs and which do not. This presence a problem if you are not label careful, especially if you are one of the 117 million Americans with a chronic disease.

It can be difficult when trying to purchase the best options for you and your family. Everytime we make a purchase we are pledging with our dollars to support these companies or not. Deciphering the labels can make a huge impact on your health, and the future demand for more organic products.  Here is a chart to help you understand these labels better.
